RE: What or who do you blame for the financial crisis?

It is interesting how many people like to put the blame for this on one or two political leaders, political parties, businesses or industries, or personal vices. The point people are missing is there is a difference between the cause of the problem and the symptoms of the problem. The symptoms of the problem is a combination of multiple issues, over inflated housing prices, bad lending practices, poor policies created by our political leaders, poor and corrupt oversight of lending practices, and poor leadership and mismanagement by heads of businesses (in all industries), just to name a few.
In the US, the blame, the person at fault, or cause of the problem is well known and easy to find. You see that person every day. The person to blame is us. We do not hold our business leaders and political leaders accountable to their actions until a crisis occurs. I am sure most members of this board hold stock in companies and most all can to vote. Have you written letters to the companies that you hold stock in? Have you voted on the issues related to stock ownership in those companies? Have you written letters to your congresscritter and senator telling them what a flaming moron they are? Have you encouraged your neighbours to do the same? Have you voted those clowns out of office? Do you know who your congrescritter is? (I could continue raving about how you need to tell your neighbours and your children how we need to be responsible for our selves and not allow government and business to run roughshod over us - because we CAN keep business and government from running over us. I could also rant that it doesnt matter if there is a D or R behind the name, they are both crooks, but the mods may take exception to all that, so I will stop here)
I say the person primarily at fault can be found in the mirror.

RE: Anyone Working at Home Online Business?

I am a CCNE and I run a network consulting business. 90% of my work is done in three places:
1. My office basement
2. My back deck (overlooking acres of oak trees)
3. Where ever my WW trailer is at.
My customers include several small CATV businesses that provide Internet access via cable modems and several small to medium size businesses. I work with them to monitor and secure their networks, and help them in planning and building their infrastructure as their business grows.
Naturally, in order to get into this business, you must be well versed in configuring high end routers and switches on networks that will have thousands of PC connected to it.
One additional note - occasionally I do have to go on site with the customers. For those customers out of state, it is nice to be able to go camping at the same time you are working!

RE: Turn cheap, nasty tasting wine into fine wine

I will not drink wine from a box. I only drink fine wines, such as Boones Farm and Thunderbird.
I am not as think as you drunk I am.

RE: Hate those annoying telemarketer phone calls?

I like stringing them along, then put them on hold, then string them along some more.
If they are not gone by then, I ask if they will marry me and have my baby (doesnt matter if they are male or female)
And if that doesn't get rid of them, I then ask if they have found Jesus.

RE: Mini 5er Spotted

I'm sure you didn't see what I"m going to discribe but someone on here posted a video about a VW Bug with a 5th wheel attached to the roof and was towing a small 5er. The car could spin 360 around the king pin making it turn on a dime. Pretty neat but SMALL

RE: Mini 5er Spotted

19 foot 5th wheel
Estimated weight 2000 lbs
I wonder if my 3/4 ton 6.0 diesel can pull that. Or would the weight police come after me?

RE: Blue Tanks for Grey Water

Takes me all of 10 minutes to drain my 40 gallon grey tank into my 35 gallon tote.
I like your time frame of getting the job done, but I am curious. How do you get 40 gallons of grey water into a 35 gallon tank?
Is that anything like putting 10 pounds of, uhh...stuff into a 5 pound bag?

RE: Diesel Shortage

$3.99 for diesel here in Newnan (south of Atlanta). Was out and about yesterday. Did not see any place that sold diesel showing signs they were out. A few places indicated they were out of one grade or another of gasoline.

I bungee cord it to the front ladder - where it normally is pointing to the road where most people will be approaching the camp site from.

RE: Halloween decorations at your campsite

I am a bit of a traditionalist. Orange lights, ghosts made from sheets and broom sticks, mother in law, jack o lanterns, etc etc
But my preferred decoration is myself. I will dress up like a scare crow, arrange some straw and/or newspaper sticking out from my pants leg and shirt sleeves. Put a burlap bag or pillow case over my head - get something thin that you can see through - dont cut holes in it - and a hat. Put a bowl of candy in your lap with a sign that says "help yourself!" Slouch in the chair and put some string around yourself so it looks like you are tied into the chair.
Then wait for your victims.

RE: What Does "Fully Self Contained" Mean?

My definition for "fully self-contained" would include the following:
Fresh water tank
Black water tank
Grey water tank
On board generator
Of course the RV would have a bathroom with a shower and commode and a fully equipped kitchen, living area and sleeping area.
And a closet full of beer. http://homesteadexchangenetwork.net/smf/Smileys/default/beerdrinkers.gif
And a maid to bring you that beer and to pick up the empties

RE: Why are people against RVing?

I think moderation is the key. If we all try to be less wasteful... we all win.
Here in lies the problem. Define "wasteful"
Wasteful. Definition: When YOU do, own or purchase something that I dont think you need.

RE: how to attach shelf liner, and drying towels on the road

Also, how do you dry your bath towels when you are on the road? So far we have only gone on weekend trips, but am in the process of planning an 18 day trip out west in 2 years and am wondering how to dry the towels out after everyone showers and then hits the road. We have a HTT, very small bathroom, and will have 6 people traveling. I imagine the heat from having it closed up will help to dry the towels, but if you all have any tried and true methods, I would love for you to share them please!
Depending on the environment you are in, closing up wet towels in a hot trailer could have you ending up with mildew in the trailer and you still will have wet towels. I dont know what the humidity will be like where you are going, but if you are dealing with high humidity, get those towels outside a line to dry. That is what we do.
